April 24, 2025 Presentation of the 12th International Organ Festival

This May, the twelfth edition of the International Organ Festival will be held at the Magistral Cathedral of Alcalá de Henares, paying tribute to one of Europe’s great composers: Johann Sebastian Bach. This morning, Deputy Mayor Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, Culture Councilor Santiago Alonso, Episcopal Delegate for Cultural Evangelization Juan Miguel Prim, the University of Alcalá’s Director for External Entities Mayte del Val, and the Festival’s Artistic Director Liudmila Matsyura participated in the presentation of this concert series, which will take place at the Magistral Cathedral of Alcalá de Henares at 9:00 PM on Saturdays, May 3, 10, and 17.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Tourism and Culture Departments of the Alcalá de Henares City Council, the Complutense Bishopric, and the University of Alcalá, the Blancafort organ will be tuned in the coming days so that residents and visitors can enjoy performances by internationally renowned artists.

After the Complutense Bishopric and the City Council’s Tourism Department joined efforts in 2024 to revive this international festival, which had been paused for several years, this year the Culture Department and the University of Alcalá are also supporting the project, further strengthening this cultural event.

The Festival will once again be under the artistic direction of Liudmila Matsyura, resident organist of the Magistral Cathedral, and will feature organists Michal Markuszewski from Poland and Franco-Lebanese Naji Hakim. Admission is free and open until capacity is reached.
